You get a private 4×4 safari vehicle, a dedicated guide, flexible departure times, custom game drives and the freedom to spend longer with the wildlife. The advantages are a flexible itinerary, more privacy, better photography opportunities, a pace that suits you and greater comfort. The main drawback is the higher overall cost.
What a group safari is
On a group safari you share a vehicle with other travellers who follow the same itinerary. The advantages are lower cost, a good fit for solo travellers and the chance to meet new people. The drawbacks are a fixed schedule, less flexibility, a shared vehicle and wildlife stops that depend on the group.
